Dr. Hailey serves as Principal Investigator for NCETE. She is an Associate Dean of the College of Engineering. Her research interests are in the broad areas of fluid mechanics and engineering education. She was a member of the Aerodynamic Decelerator Systems Technical Committee for AIAA and was Chair-Elect of the Rocky Mountain Section of ASEE for the 2004-05 academic year. She has over five years of experience in managing programs undergoing significant change. While at Sandia National Laboratories Hailey led change in the Parachute Technology and Unsteady Aerodynamics Department from Cold War capabilities in nuclear weapons technology to post-cold war capabilities in numerous fluid/structure interactions technologies, including automotive airbags and proof-of-concept of the Mars Pathfinder airbag system. While at the University of Texas at Tyler Hailey led the Mechanical Engineering program to its first ABET accreditation. She is a Co-PI on the NSF-funded ADVANCE program at Utah State, working to change the academic climate for female faculty members. |
