DR. TY NEWELL
PROFESSOR, MECHANICAL & INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING

Dr. Newell serves as Senior Personnel for the NCETE UIUC site. He is a professor of Mechanical Engineering and Assistant Dean in the College of Engineering. His research interests include thermodynamics, renewable energy, energy efficiency, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer. Over the years, his teaching has been recognized by the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, the college and the university. He is a five-time recipient of both two-year and five-year effective teaching awards given by the M&IE Alumni Board. He has also received the Everitt Award for Teaching Excellence, the College of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award, the BP Amoco Award for Innovation in Undergraduate Instruction, the Rose Award for Teaching Excellence, and the Campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Dr. Newell joined the Mechanical Engineering faculty in 1980
