DR. RONALD E. TERRY
ASSOCIATE IN THE OFFICE OF PLANNING AND ASSESSMENT,
PROFESSOR OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
Dr. Ronald Terry serves as Senior Personnel for the NCETE BYU site. He
has conducted scholarly work and published numerous articles
in engineering education. He is an active member of the Education
Research Methods (ERM) Division within the American Society
of Engineering Education (ASEE). He is past Chair of the ASEE
Rocky Mountain Section. He led an effort at BYU to educate
the College of Engineering and Technology faculty about student
learning styles and helped several faculty members modify
their pedagogy to include the concept of 'teaching through
the cycle'. He has co-authored a very popular monograph on
the application of the Kolb Learning Style Theory titled "Teaching
Through the Cycle - Application of Learning Style Theory to
Engineering Education at Brigham Young University". Several
engineering colleges have used the monograph to educate their
faculty regarding student learning styles and how to design
learning activities to reach all types of learners. He has
facilitated workshops at universities involving the topics
of learning styles, personality types, cooperative learning,
assessment practices, and faculty development issues. He is
part of a 10-member team within the ERM Division of ASEE that
provides faculty development workshops for university educators.
