Dan Wixted attended and graduated from Illinois State University with an MS in technology education and a master’s certificate in training and development.  Before Dan considered a career in technology education, he attended and graduated from DeVry University in Chicago, Illinois with a BS in computer information systems.  Dan also attended and graduated from Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, WY with an AAS degree in automotive repair and shop management.  Dan earned the equivalent of a BS degree in analog/digital circuitry, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and sonar equipment design while serving his country during Operation Desert Storm/Shield.  Dan was honorable discharged from the U.S. Navy and worked as an auto mechanic and service manager for a large Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership.  Dan went on to work for State Farm Insurance Companies utilizing his C.I.S. degree as a Programmer/Analyst and Database Administrator during Y2K.  Dan visited Illinois State University during the fall of 2005 and by the spring semester of 2006 he was enrolled in technology education and involved with the efforts of NCETE as a graduate assistant.  Dan plans to become a professor in a position that involves teaching engineering and technology education.  He eventually wants to hold a position in a teacher education program that includes techniques that effectively deliver and create curriculum with teachers that share their influence and knowledge about a technological world with students of all ages.
